GUSTAV ERNESAKS (12.12.1908-24.01.1993) was and is a popular choir director, composer and teacher. Having been one of the main leaders and general leaders of song festivals for almost half a century, he was given the nickname father of estonian song (Laulutaat) by the people.
In 1944, Ernesaks founded the Estonian National Male Choir (RAM), being its artistic director until his death.
The statue (monument) was installed on the slopes of Lauluväljak in 2004 (authors and performers of the work are Ekke Väli and Vello Lillemets. The bronze Gustav is 2.25 m high and weighs 2.5 tons).
The retro souvenir doll has been handcrafted in the 1990s and it has a limited quantity (approx. 100 pieces).
