XIII Youth Song and Dance Celebration "Holy is the Land"
Dance Festival performance "Bridges"
The XIIIth Youth Song and Dance Celebration has a common motto "Holy is the Land". Holy is a word we don't use very often in everyday Estonian. We save it for when we want to talk about something very special. Something that deserves our deep respect and must not be violated - our mother tongue, our home and the nature around us.
With the XIII Youth Song and Dance Celebration, we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the first Youth Celebration in 1962. To ensure that our Song and Dance Celebration is as environmentally friendly as possible, we would be grateful if you could follow our environmental tips and suggestions as we approach the festival. Big changes start with small things.
It's interesting to note that the whole programme for this year's Song Festival is based on a single poem by Hando Runnel, "Light!", reflecting the values embedded in this multi-layered poem. The title of the XIIIth Youth Song and Dance Celebration, "Holy is the Land", also comes from the first lines of the same poem. The Song Festival is framed by a distinctive selection of songs that mirror each other according to the artistic director Pärt Uusberg.
The XIII Youth Song and Dance Celebration will take place from 30th June to 2nd July in Tallinn. The Dance Festival performance "Bridges" on 30th June and 1st July, and the Folk Music Festival "Truly" on 1st July. Parade and song festival "Holy is the Land" on 2nd July.
